Abstract: The critical review of mathematical models and computer simulations as instruments for search of innovative ways of higher school development is done. It is shown that today computer simulations, which are already used in practice to determine optimum of student contingent, university staff, amount of audiences etc. in the national educational systems depending on a demographic situation and financial possibilities of one or another country, are the most important. The autonomous educational systems are considered as dissipative structures, while it is shown that their existence, which is alienated from production, contradicts to the laws of physics and the nature of these structures. To correct the situation reassignment of higher school, at least in terms of vitally necessary specialties relevant to industrial dissipative structures, is proposed.
Key words: higher school, simulation model, dissipative structure.
